> How AWD CMS looks after your details: what we collect, what we keep, and who else is involved.

Last updated: June 2026

AWD CMS is still being built. How it works, and how we look after your details, may change without warning. Please do not put anything sensitive into it.

# Privacy Policy

Armstrong Web Development ("we", "our" or "us") runs AWD CMS. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect when you use AWD CMS, what we do with it, and who else sees it.

## 1. AWD CMS is still being built

**This is still being built.** AWD CMS is here to be tried out and worked on. What it can do, how we keep it safe, and what we do with your details are all still changing. By using it, you accept that it is not a finished, fully reliable service.

## 2. Information we collect

### Account information

When you sign up, we collect your **name and email address**. Your password is stored scrambled, never as you typed it — we never hold the password itself. We send a link to your email address to confirm it is yours; until you use it, invitations to work on other people’s websites stay on hold.

### Phone number (optional)

You may give us a **phone number**. You do not have to, nothing in AWD CMS stops working if you do not, and we do not use it for marketing unless you separately tick a box saying we may. You can change or remove it at any time from your Account page.

### Website content

We store the pages, sections, images and content you create in AWD CMS. This includes any text, pictures or files you upload.

### How you use AWD CMS

We use **Microsoft Clarity** to see how people use AWD CMS. Clarity collects:

- Which pages you look at, how you move between them, and how long you stay
- Where you move your mouse, what you click, and how far you scroll
- What kind of device and browser you use
- Roughly where you are, to the nearest town or region

Microsoft Clarity does not collect your password or anything sensitive you type into a form. See [Microsoft’s Privacy Policy](https://privacy.microsoft.com) for more.

### What our website records automatically

Like most websites, we keep a record of every visit: the internet address you came from, the browser you used, the page that sent you here, and the time. This is kept for us by the company that hosts it for us.

## 3. Marketing and your permission

We treat two kinds of message very differently.

**Messages about your own account** — confirming your email address, resetting your password, security notices, and notifications about websites you own or have been invited to. These are part of running AWD CMS, we send them by email, and they are not marketing. You cannot switch them off while you have an account, because they are how you keep control of it.

**Marketing** — news, features and offers. We only send these in ways you have specifically agreed to, and we ask about each way separately: email, text message and phone call are three different permissions, and agreeing to one is not agreeing to another.

- Nothing is ticked for you. If you did not tick it, we do not have your permission.
- It is never a condition of signing up, or of using anything in AWD CMS.
- We keep a record of what you were asked, the exact wording you were shown, when you answered and what you said. You can read your own record on your Account page.
- You can withdraw at any time from that same page — the same boxes, no email to anyone and no reason needed. A withdrawal is recorded too, and takes effect immediately.

Text messages and phone calls need a phone number, so if you have not given one we will not use them whatever is ticked.

## 4. Other services we use

AWD CMS uses these services, which are run by other companies:

- **Microsoft Clarity** — Records how people move around AWD CMS, so we can see what is confusing. [Privacy Policy](https://privacy.microsoft.com)
- **Cloudflare** — Keeps AWD CMS online and quick to load, wherever your visitors are. [Privacy Policy](https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/)
- **Google Fonts** — The fonts your website is written in. [Privacy Policy](https://policies.google.com/privacy)
- **Storage** — Where your account, your websites and everything in them are kept.

## 5. How we use information

- To run AWD CMS, keep it working, and make it better
- To sign you in and look after your account
- To see how people use it, so we can make it easier
- To spot and stop misuse, and to keep other people out of your account
- To tell you about changes to AWD CMS, where that applies

## 6. How long we keep things

We keep your details for as long as you have an account. If you close it, or ask us to delete it, we will remove your data within a reasonable time — unless the law says we have to keep it.

**Consent records are the one thing we keep after you say no.** When you withdraw a marketing permission we do not delete the record that you once gave it — we add a record that you withdrew it. Keeping both is what lets either of us establish what was agreed and when. These records hold which way of contacting you it was about, your answer, the wording you were shown, the date, and the internet address and browser the answer came from. They are deleted with the rest of your data if you delete your account.

## 7. Your rights

You may:

- See, correct or update the details on your account
- Add, change or remove your phone number at any time, from your Account page
- Give or withdraw any marketing permission at any time, from that same page — withdrawing is as easy as agreeing was, and needs no reason
- Read your own consent record: what you were asked, when, and what you answered
- Ask us to delete your account and everything stored with it
- Ask us to stop recording how you use AWD CMS, where that is possible

The first four you can do yourself, without asking anybody. For the rest, contact us at **armstrongwebdev@gmail.com**.

## 8. Security

We take sensible steps to keep things safe: your password is stored scrambled, the connection between your browser and us is encrypted, and the file that keeps you signed in cannot be read by scripts running in the page. Even so, this is a development project and we cannot promise complete security. You use AWD CMS at your own risk.

## 9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the project changes. Updates take effect as soon as they appear here. If you keep using AWD CMS after that, you accept the updated policy.
